This book,written in 1998, is very much like the 1999 books by Kadlec and Glassman and Hassett,which failed to realize that the corporate profits being reported by many corporations in the 1994-1999 period were simply faked.The books were cooked,just like they were cooked in the late 1920's.The major prediction in this book is that the Dow will be at 40,000 in the year 2016.The projected increase in stock market prices predicted by Elias,theoretically based on future expected profits,which were themselves based on an extrapolation of existing realized profits that, in fact,were based on accounting gimmicks and fraud,could not possibly be realized.The best book to read in this area is the 3rd edition(1996)of Kindleberger's Manias,Panics,and Crashes.The best short piece to read is chapter 12 of J M Keynes's The General Theory of Employment,Interest and Money.Elias's ignorance of basic market fundamentals,an analysis of which convinced the 3 wise men(Buffett,Soros,Lynch)to liquidate their portfolios of stocks between September,1999 and March,2000 ,means that his "analysis"is fundamentally flawed by his ideological belief in some of the metaphysical speculations of supplyside"economics".Elias appears to confuse investment in plant,factories,and equipment(located in the USA)with speculation in the stocks of companies based on fraudulent accounting practices. • 100% chino cotton twill • Unstructured, 6-panel, low-profile • 3 ⅛” crown • Adjustable strap with antique buckle • Head circumference: 20 ½” - 21 ⅝” Read Dow 40,000 today, and tomorrow you will thank yourself for finally taking the bull market by the horns-and building wealth in history's greatest financial opportunity. This book did not make any sense when it was first issued.It doesn't make any sense to reissue it as a second printing unless the title was revised.Zuccaro's fundamental problem is his inability to discern the difference between a genuine investment based boom resulting from technological advances and innovations in products and industrial techniques and a speculative bubble that is simply the result of rampant speculative activity fueled ,if not created by,hundreds of billions of dollars in commercial bank loans going to support all sorts of leveraged buyouts and hedge fund game playing.Charles Kindleberger said it best when he stated that you are automatically in a bubble when stock market analysts proclaim that"... it's different this time ".Instead of this book,I recommend Kindleberger's Manias,Panics,and Crashes.The best short treatment of this issue is still chapter 12 of J.M.Keynes's The General Theory(1936).
